About
Paul Gilmore is a photographer, writer, and retired physician, residing in Maine. He graduated from Boston University with degrees in Medicine and Art History. He studies under professional photographer and educator Chehalis Deane Hegner.
His subjects include rural and urban landscape, abstraction, and people. He travels extensively in America and Europe.
His works have been shown at A. Smith Gallery, Johnson City, Texas; Photoplace Gallery in Middlebury, Vermont; Glimpse Gallery in Concord, New Hampshire; and Two Villages Art Association in Contoocook, New Hampshire.
He is the author of ‘‘Trampoline: Photography and Verse.’’
Artist Statement
“The spirituality of place seizes marrow and soul, compelling urgent re-expression. Rooted to that very ground, a way must be found to bring back home a visceral sense of that Earth. In exchange a part of the artist is left behind, as fair a trade as can be made. Our bonds are sustained, and so, proliferate.”

“In this (?experimental) section, illustrated essays, virtual gallery shows, and travelogues will demonstrate how my mind, my eye and my wanderlust fuel each other. If you’re curious to know what I’m trying to understand about the visceral connection between imagery and feeling, here’s where I’ll try to photo’splain myself. Or, maybe I’ll lead us astray into perplexing dead ends, posing new questions.”
